We met with Dr. Thompson, a neurosurgeon at Vanderbilt today. We were supposed to meet with him on Monday, but he is to be out of town. He seemed to be very knowledgeable and capable. Only does cranial surgeries, many of them removing tumors (about 250 per Year), and he has been doing this for about 10 years. He thinks he can remove this tumor, BUT it is not without risk--possible stroke, paralysis, or loss of sight or balance. He says that happens in less than 2% of the cases. He does think this is probably a malignant tumor, and I most likely will need some radiation afterward, but it will not be so intense or widespread as would be the case if they were trying to shrink the tumor itself. He did say it is probably a high grade tumor, but they won't know for sure until they biopsy it. The surgery is scheduled for May 15 and will be at least an 8 hour procedure.
I know it is God's will for me to be well. I am not looking forward to this, but I am not afraid. Please pray that God will heal me before I have to be subjected to this ordeal, but if not that He guide the hands of this doctor and others who will be attending me. Thank you so much for your faithfulness to check on me, and to pray for me. To God be the glory, whatever the outcome!!!
