I have had a really good week! For 3 or 4 days now I have felt almost normal (:-). I pray that this is an indication that God is healing me.
We had a minister visit our church from India this past Sunday. It seemed his sermon was directly for me. He used passages from Isa. 60:22 and Ps. 102:1-2, saying that God wants to answer us speedily. He WILL do this when we are in trouble (Jer. 33:3 ; Matt. 14:24-25). But He cannot work speedily when we are not obedient (Ps. 119:16) or when we are too busy to pray (Lk. 18:1 ; Eph. 6:18 ; 1 Thess. 5:16-18). This was a wakeup call for me to get myself in a prayerful posture, and obey what God has called me to do, because God knows that I am in trouble!!
We have begun a study on Wed. night by John Bevere based on his book Driven by Eternity. The session tonight discussed how we as authentic Christians cannot bear bad fruit continually. If we have had a true conversion experience, we are a new creation. Our spiritual DNA has changed. The nature of a sinner is to sin. If we are truly born of God, we cannot continue to produce bad fruit, or sin. The grace of God empowers us to live a life pleasing to God. Our rebirth is evident in what we DO (1 Jn. 2:3-4)--we keep His commandments.
Both these sermons have really impacted my life. I truly believe God's healing power can flow in my life to the extent I am willing to obey Him. Obedience is primary; healing is secondary. If I NEVER receive healing, I WANT to be obedient!
